What do you mean there is only 24 hours in a day

You know it seems like things get so busy that the days start melting into each other. You go to sleep thinking of the things that are going to happen in the morrow and before you know you are into the next day thinking of the things that are still left to do the next day. It can be a circle. Oh well that is how it is with everyone! And who can't relate?
This past weekend we went to see a Civil War re-enactment just down from out home here in Gatlinburg or should I say Pitman Center since we are just on the outskirts. The day was bright and sunny here and we loaded up in the car for what was a 2 minute ride to Mills Park, a place that I am constantly going when I am walking the dogs. After parking and getting a quick lift back up to the place that we claimed as ours to watch the re-enactment we started to look around. Jim gout was acting up so we where mindful about how far we could walk in the field so we opted not to visit the Northern side. Everyone there was very helpful with stories of that time and what the solders would have taken with them into battle. That reminds me I found this fantastic web site that offers some great insight to the Civil War era at Civil War. To see some of my photos from that day you can catch them here:
It is fantastic to see history in a re-enactment format to be able to hear the stories that these men have to tell. I never could understand why people would say history was interesting until I started to see history in this re-enactment format.

You might like to drop in to the home school blog. There are some links to the history that are fantastic to watch. Sherman's bow ties, and Grant's and Sherman's relationship is one that is quit interesting . I am still learning but I will continue to take a peek back and get the facts straight. Our history is important in that it needs to be remembered as accurately as possible.
Seeing all this Civil War dress and camp site got me to thinking again about sewing some items in costume and some that are not for costume wear. That is to say I would love to take a design that was of the 1800 and alter it to fit today's style but give it an edge that time was not seen in the garment. It would be at home in the 1800s and in the 2009. I have seen several movies that items and garments have been altered to not reflect a time so that the movie or setting stays viewable in any time era. The costumes that where designed for the movie Harry Potter when they are at Hogwarts are designed in that manner. To not reflect a time. The wizard's clothing also reflected not an old style since, but a different feel. One of timelessness.
I have a short blog in the studio section that talks about that.
With all this blogging it is amazing that I can get anything done in the studio. I have to make a commitment to blog and blog well and stop doing bits every day. Start putting down something that is worth reading. Or at least that is what I say on a constant basis. I do believe that I will start using the draft button more than I usually do. Start publishing only once a week and on a timely basis. So lets see how that goes shall we?
