Creating Mockups

The more I move through life the more that I realize that others don't have a plug into my mind.  Now I know that sounds like... duhhhh Edie!! But honestly I realize that other creative folks might need a little visual to get them to get to the point that I am and at a faster speed.  I just have to get around my own issue of.... why would anyone be interested in what or how I did it.  I see things that others have done and think great, fantastic, and off to the studio I go to bang out my own version.  Sometimes too much information contaminates my own creative process and limits my imagination.  Soooo there you have it... my reluctance to go into detail.  That can inhibit my blog also.  I struggle with having to take take the time to put something up.  I tell you computer issues also make it a bit of a cumbersome experience.  I am sure all of you can relate to that.

The latest Box
Calling Santa Available at Frogs Attic on Etsy

This little box is great for that bit of jewelery that you want to give or that homemade soap or even a few treats from the kitchen.  But I started to wonder (after a few comments) Just how folks visualized this.  So I created some mockups to post so that others can create their own versions.

I used a button that I made a covered button (buttons of all sizes are available at Buttons to cover)
I attached it buy simply making a hole and running a ribbon from the button loop through the hole and finishing it off in a bow.  I created some small tags from Averys Key tags buy just pasting a matching image on them.  The small candy canes I created with polymer clay.

On the back I stapled first a ribbon in a cress cross fashion with a large enough look to go over the button in the front then I put sealing wax on it to give it that old world look.  I put glitter on a few areas around the box to add interest.

Looking Back

Some of you may recognize this box from a entry or so back.  Here is is finished up and looking spot on for St. Patty's Day.
Available at Frogs Attic on Etsy

I have incorporated on both the Christmas boxes and the Luck of the Irish boxes details on the side.  The Boxes are a delight from all sides including the bottoms.  I keep seeing this one with golden coins in it for some "Lucky" person.

A Day for Art

Available at Frogs Attic

Angels
Yesterday I worked on my digital artwork so that means that nothing around the house got done. No food made no bread on the rise nothing.  I think that on those days Ramon Noodles are the best.  A little hot sauce and you have a tasty meal. Not the best in the healthy department but at least you can keep going.

Luck of the Irish
These are the fruits of my labor (I did more but have just not posted them)  I saw this fantastic little Irishman on the Graphic Fairy's free down loads and just could not resist making a little box for giving that little trinket to the Irishman of your choice.  Since my little 10yr old was born there and is considered an Irish citizen and the fact that we called Ireland home for some years  this holds a special meaning.  I think this year I will create my little box and fill it with sweets and treats for him. I'll post the finished product a little closer to St. Patrick's Day.

What??? Christmas Now??

I have not even planned for Thanks Giving and already they have loaded the stores with Christmas stuff.  I hate that!!! Our society does not promote living in the moment.  It is constantly pushing us to the next level, season.  It is worse than my son when "Black Ops" came out!  Oh well I guess I shall have to practice living in the moment and doing Christmas designs outside of Christmas time.

Cornucopia
I have just finished another digital download available at my Etsy. Store the Frogs Attic. I loved the way the Germans give their gifts at Christmas time.  They are in the most beautiful cones stuffed to the brim with fantastic surprises.  I designed a small version with a little angel on it.  (Shown here is a small version Full version at 300 dpi is available for purchase)

I decorated this little beauty with glitter and cut the edge with a speciality scissors and put a ribbon in it to create a handle for hanging.   I sprayed the outside with sealer to prevent the glitter from coming off.

Hangers and Bees oh my!

Oh I am so glad that you guys loved the hangers.  I guess I must let you in on a how to.  I usually get so caught up in thought about getting it done and the end result that I forget that some of you would really like to know HOW!!
Well here is a quickie on how.  I purchased the hangers off of E-bay.  I would give you a link but honestly I just looked around and got the cheapest price and free shipping so the vendors will vary.  My mother had given me some paint that she had left over from painting it was called Bumble Bee yellow.  (know you see the inspiration coming through)  after painting them with the yellow and letting it dry I put a crackle coat over and then put another flat paint over that (egg shell white) after that I digital altered the Bee gotten from the Graphics Fairy to fit in a 1" diameter and used the Avery Key Tags (You can purchase those from any store) I think you can see how this turned out now.  I put a sealant spray to prevent any paint from coming off and to provide a smooth finish.

From Leaves to Bees

This fall has been busy and I mean busy.  With leaf blowing and other fall chores that seem to be on going I have been left with little time to do much of anything.  But I have had time to create some more beautiful hangers for displaying those spoils from Birthday or christening or baby showers or just estate sale finds.  Here are some pics.

I fell in love with this little bee all over again (you can check it out over at the Graphics Fairy)I am posting these great hangers over in my Etsy store Frogs Attic.

My inspiration must have come from this little honey pot that is used for afternoon tea.  The bright yellows and warm tea just put me in the mood to add a little spring into fall time.
Since I miss last weeks post due to the leaf blowing I thought I would share our Halloween pics this time.  I created a little witches hat for myself and went as the witch I was.  My oldest daughter loves Batman so I created the Joker face for her.  My son a Star Wars fan created this combination costume.

I hope that your fall is going great.  If you have any thing that has inspired you to create a project then now is the time to share.
I believe that creativity is contagious so spread your creations about.  Post your link here.
